The residential courses include a combination of indoor tutorial sessions and outdoor painting and sketching sessions accompanied by the tutors, to make the most of the true beauty of the scenery.

Sonia hawes has sketched in south america, antarctica, china, and europe. She runs adult learning classes, workshops for art groups and local authorities, takes part in the big draw and has a great enthusiasm for encouraging students to have a go and to discover their potential. Her painting workshops and residential art courses (which include tutorial sessions) aim to give individual and group help to students of all abilities to enable them to go home with sketches, small paintings and photographs which can be used as a starting point for further work.

Bee morrison is an international artist, art holiday organiser, author, demonstrator and watercolour tutor. She holds an honours degree in ART, fully qualified teaching certificate and has over 30 years of teaching experience. She is artist in residence at bridlington, is the author of 2 books in print, and has appeared three times on national television. Bee also has her watercolour portrait of Her Majesty the Queen in the royal collection

Diane was born in glasgow in 1954, brought up in the north east of england, and has spent nearly all her adult life in south manchester. She is a self-taught colourist, fascinated by how we see and feel colour. She works mainly in watercolour, and occasionally mixed media and has recently threaded her experiences of visiting africa, greece, and scotland into her work. She enjoys the flexibilty of watercolour from the flowing wet-in-wet painting to using undiluted paint to create foreground detail.

Lionel Playford is a practicing professional artist who specializes in landscape drawing and painting. He exhibits regularly in galleries across northern england and occasionally in london. Over the past 18 years lionel has taught a variety of subjects in painting and drawing since he graduated in fine art from the university of northumbria in 1991. He currently teaches for the centre of lifelong learning with sunderland university and for higham hall in the lake district. Lionel has experience making art with a wide range of people of all ages in settings as varied as public art galleries, factories, banks, schools, local art clubs and most frequently in adult education.

Originally, from york, sue is now based in the picturesque north yorkshire village of stokesley which acts as an ideal base to explore the rich landscapes and coasts of the north of england.
Her love and interest in painting and drawing began in early childhood and developed further whilst studying at middlesbrough college of art. She is a member of a number of art societies and groups, as well as being the programme secretary of the popular leven arts society. Sue regularly exhibits at both at local and national exhibitions, and was included as part of a national exhibition by NSWA at the westminster gallery central. She is a fully qualified further education art teacher and takes regular classes at nunthorpe further education centre as well as running her own courses

Joanne lives in the North West of Lancashire a self-taught artist specialising in Watercolour, an experienced qualified adult education tutor running many popular watercolour workshops throughout the North West area. Joanne is a professional artist with many years of teaching experience. Joanne demonstrates Watercolour techniques for various Art Societies as well as tutoring painting holidays in the UK and abroad, and is a regular contributor to The Leisure Painter Magazine.
